As a new initiative towards its social responsibility, AKGEC has started a Skill Development Programme under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in alignment with the National Skill Development mission by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. The programme is sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and follows the curriculum designed by Sector Skill Council under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. The programme is being conducted under the aegis of Department of Computer Science and Engineering in the sector Field Technician (Computing and Peripherals).

The curriculum design includes Hardware Essentials, Networking Essentials, Windows 7, Windows Server, Linux Serve and IT Security components. The course equips students with skills to provide services related to hardware and software installation and defects at client site. The contents of the curriculum are delivered by trained instructor. The teaching methodology includes classroom sessions, hands on practice and group work. The college provides well equipped computer labs for conducting the course as well as other essential hardware and equipment.

The course duration is 300 hours and classes are conducted during evening and on holidays. On completion of the course, the students are required to take an examination conducted by National Skill Development Council (NSDC) and are awarded with certificate by NSDC.

Started in October 2016, the College has successfully completed training of two batches and the third batch is undergoing training.
